Cylinder overhauling

Regular inspections and the overhauling of all cylinders in a continuous wood-processing plant are necessary to ensure consistent production and plant safety. Worn packings may allow hydraulic oil to escape and therefore expose the plant to serious risk. The infeed cylinders in the areas around Frames 1 to 5 are particularly at risk because this is where the temperature and pressure are highest.

WEAR ON THE CYLINDER PACKINGS.

THE CONSEQUENCES:

  • increased oil consumption
  • high risk of fire
  • dirt may get into the oil
  • oil contamination and valve clogging

Range of performances

  • When necessary: preliminary inspection to determine the actual condition and to define the scope of work and required spare parts
  • Individual personnel and resource planning
  • Delivery of all the required spare parts in OEM quality
  • Coordination and monitoring of work at site
  • Dismantling of the press cylinders, including pistons (in rows frame unit by frame unit)
  • Installation of new packings
  • Reassembly of the press cylinders
  • Checking of the mechanical pressing function during
    restart
  • Combination of the work with other maintenance work (piston insulation replacement)
    Flushing the entire hydraulic system
RECOMMENDATION: Frames 1 to 5 always in combination with new insulation
